The Northwest Baptist Church began in February 1983. It is our desire to outwork the vision and mission detailed on this web page. If this mission lights a flame in your heart and resonates within you, then we invite you to join us in the journey of making this a reality.
"We believe that God is able to do immeasurably more that all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us. To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.
Therefore we are committed to a walk of "God
pleasing faith" that will take risks in following His leading and trust Him
for provision and power along the way. For we believe that Christ will build His
church through us in this community."
(Matthew 16:16, Ephesians 3:20 - 21, Philippians
4:19, Hebrews 11:6)
"Our vision is to become a community of faithful and faith-filled followers of Jesus Christ, that is committed to presenting Jesus Christ, the Living Word of God and the Scriptures, the written Word of God as the revelation of God's love and redemptive purpose for every individual, marriage, family, culture and nation. Committed also to living as a Biblical community of faith in such a way that people 'see' Christ shining in and through us and are then drawn to 'seek' Him and become fully committed followers of Christ who give their lives to 'serve' Him".
To achieve this we are committed to the five primary purposes of the church as outlined in Acts 2: 42 - 48; the Worship of God, the Word of God, the Welfare of God's people, the Works of God and the Witness of God.
Firstly: To be A Worshipping Community of Faith.
Learning to give love back to God through sincere worship that "glorifies God and enjoys Him forever." Our worship being an expression of our love and gratitude towards Him, expressed through song and living authentic God-honouring lives.
(John 4:24; Acts 2:41 - 47, Romans 12:1 - 2; 1 Peter 2:5 - 9; Matthew 22:34 - 40)Secondly: To be a Word Proclaiming Community of Faith.
Learning to receive the revelation of the love of God through His Word, thus coming to an understanding of His person, purposes and principles for life.
(Acts 2:41 - 47, Matthew 28:18 - 20, 2 Timothy 13:15 - 17, 4:1 - 5)Thirdly: To be a Community of Faith, Committed to the Welfare of God's People.
Learning to give God's love to one another, seeking to love one another with Christ-like authenticity. Doing so through the sharing of our lives and resources so the world will see that we are truly His followers.
(John 13:34 - 35; Acts 2:41 - 47, 4:32 - 37, 1 John 4:1 - 5)Fourthly: To be a Community of Faith, Committed to doing the Works of God.
Learning to receive and appropriate the gifts and power of the Spirit of God so that we are enabled to continue doing the works of Christ, thus functioning as a full expression of Christ as His body.
(Acts 2:41 - 47, Romans 12:1 - 8, 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4:1 - 11, 1 Peter 4:10 - 11)Fifthly: To be a Witnessing Community of Faith.
Learning to give God's love to lost people. Committed to doing so through personal testimony and corporate witness, realising that we the church, are Christ's hope for the world, His great commandment being our primary concern.
(Acts 1:8, 2:41 - 47, Matthew 28:18 - 20, 2 Corinthians 3:1 - 3, Romans 1:16)
"To become a light on a hill, helping people to see, seek and serve Jesus Christ".
"You are the light of the world. A city on a
hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.
Instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. In
the same way let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds
and praise your Father in Heaven."
(Matthew 5:14 - 16)
This is our rally cry! This is what we are all about. To achieve this we call each member of our church family to personally and intentionally commit to our '5 step strategy' that will enable each of us to fulfil this mission and L.I.G.H.T. the way to Christ.
Each member commits to:-
Step One ~
Live an authentic life as a follower of Christ so that your life becomes a witness to those you are seeking to reach.
(Matthew 5:14 - 16, 28:18 - 20, 2 Corinthians 3:1 - 3)Step Two ~
Invest in the life of a seeker through praying for them, building a friendship with them that values them as someone who matters to God and therefore to you.
(Luke 19:1 - 10, 1 Corinthians 9:19 - 23)Step Three ~
Grow in the understanding of your faith so that you can explain your own journey to faith in Christ and the message of the cross.
(1 Peter 3:15 - 16, Colossians 4:5 - 6)Step Four ~
Help seekers toward faith in Christ by inviting them to an appropriate seeker service or event, so they can hear the message of God's grace and love in a relevant way.
(Matthew 9:9 - 13, John 1:40 - 46)Step Five ~
Take a new believer on a journey towards full maturity in Christ by connecting them to the appropriate ministries and being their spiritual mentor along the way.
(Matthew 28:18 - 20)
